Yairipok bag six gold medals

Imphal, May 31: Yairipok RIHP walked away with six gold medals in the 2nd State Games for Persons with Disabilities, 2012 held at Khuman Lampak main stadium.

The concluding session saw A. Sadlukim wresting the gold in junior girls’ 200 metres medley relay category while S. Premila Devi and M. Romila Devi of Imphal East SSA took the silver and bronze medals.

In senior boys’ 200 metres, Bipin Singh of Yairipok RIHP won the gold while Iran of DPHRES and Inaocha Singh of Yairipok settled for the silver and bronze medals.

In the sub-junior boys’ 200 metres medley relay category, Yairipok RIHP bagged another gold medal through P. Meiraba while S. James of DPHRES and Md Elis of Thoubal SSA bagged the silver and bronze.

Yairipok RIHP collected three more gold medals as the team beat Jiribam ICD 4-0 in the bocce boys in intellectual disabilities while in girls’ badminton, A. Sardaluxmi beat Y. Nanao of DPHRES 21-14, 21-16.

Yairipok bagged its sixth gold in the badminton doubles with the intellectual disabilities pair of W. Yaima and P. Roshan beating H. Ibotombi and S. Devesh of ICD 11-2, 11-0.

Khongman DPHRES also bagged four gold medals, with Ronibala Devi winning the gold in the junior girls’ 200 metres hearing impaired category and in badminton with S. Ronal beating M. Ibotombi of ICD by 11-4 and 11-5. In kho-kho, Khongman beat Yairipok RIHP by 3-0.

Naobicha Devi delivered a gold medal for Imphal East SSA in the junior girl’s 200 metres MR while N. Premi Devi of DPHRES and M. Padmini of Thoubal SSA got the silver and bronze medals.
