Ankita has won 17 gold medals in different races, including three national-level events.

A focussed student...

Ankita (18) developed interest in sports five years ago when she got admitted to DAV Public School, Cantt. area, Gaya. Physical education teachers Neeraj Kumar, C.B. Tiwari, Karan Kumar, Sushant Kumar and principal U.S. Prasad encourag-ed Ankita to hone her talents.

At home…

Father Trishul Dhari Singh, a businessman, and mother Meera Sharma encouraged her to give equal importance to studies and sports.

Racing ahead…

The teenager won three gold medals in 4x100m relay, 200m and 100m during the CBSE National Cluster Meet in 2009 at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur. In 2005-06, she won a silver medal in the CBSE Cluster IV tournament. DAV, Cantt. area, Gaya, hosted the tournament at Kalha Stadium.

Sports is passion…

For Ankita who is also skilled in basketball, badminton and skating. In 2009-10, after joining DAV, BSEB, she won a gold medal in the CBSE Cluster IV Basketball Tournament. In Class IV (in Jehanabad), Ankita won a badminton tournament. She has also participated in a few kho-kho tournaments.

Ankita nurtures…

Legal aspirations. She wants to become a lawyer.
