I got a call yesterday around 11pm that Mamata Banerjee wanted me to go to Writers’, and from there to the Eden Gardens for the felicitation. I reached on time, at 11am. I was in my KKR tee that Juhi (Chawla) had given me. “Tumi toh phatiye dichcho (You are rocking)!” I was told.
Mamata Banerjee was in a sari with some purple in it. “Shokal theke khunje, khunje aami eta bar korlam (I found this after looking for it all morning),” she said of her attire.
We went to the ground in the team bus. Dhukei Shah Rukh (Khan) dance kortey shuru korlo (Shah Rukh started dancing the moment he entered the stadium). Bhoomi was playing then. “Teach me some Bengali steps,” he said, behaving like a student.
Shah Rukh is one of the most amazing people that I have come across. Loving, caring, warm. He is a sweetheart. I was teaching him and he was following me. That was great!
It was an honour for the industry (to be part of the event). I would like to thank Didi. Never before have I seen this kind of a felicitation. It was massive.
