Rs 42 lakh looted

Shillong, May 22: Unidentified men snatched Rs 42 lakh from employees of Central Bank of India here while they were on their way to deposit the amount in another bank in the city.

According to police, the incident took place around 10.45am today when two goons snatched the money from two employees of Central Bank of India, Bara Bazaar branch, Ritu Singh and Bipul Chandra Deka after spraying chilli powder. The police said they were carrying so much money without any escort and were on the way to deposit the money at United Bank of India, Police Bazar. Investigation is on to find out whether there was any nexus between the employees and those who have looted the money.
