Students take heart. Now you needn’t pinch pennies to dine at your favourite pizzeria. Fire and Ice is introducing Pocket Friendly Pizzas, with prices as low as Rs 140 per head.
“I wanted to make real Italian food accessible to all. While I see a lot of people coming for Italian food, I don’t see a lot of mainstream crowd. So I got thinking on what I could do to make it as accessible to the Bengalis as Oh! Calcutta food!” said Fire and Ice director Annamaria Forgione at her Middleton Row eatery on Monday.
Pocket Friendly Pizzas will include two strips of pizza along with a bottle of Coke or a Cocktail Colada. The idea comes from her hometown Naples. “We have a lot of these mini pizzerias which serve tray pizza, which you can order by the centimetre. So there are people who want 10cm or 20cm pizzas. Why not do that here?” said Annamaria.
The strip pizzas will come in vegetarian or non-vegetarian options, the toppings for which will be changed daily according to what’s available in the market. “It could be asparagus or bell peppers or broccoli, depending on what’s in season and fresh. Non-vegetarian toppings will include chicken or lamb,” she added.
Pocket Friendly Pizzas — Rs 140 for vegetarian and Rs 160 for non-vegetarian — will be available Monday through Friday from 3pm to 7pm.
