Calcutta: England, the No.1 Test side in the world, face the risk of losing their numero uno status in the upcoming three-match series against the West Indies, at home.
India remained at the fourth spot, behind England, South Africa and Australia, on 111 points.
England will need to win the series, which starts at Lord’s from Thursday, if they have to stay as the No.1-ranked Test side on the Reliance ICC Test Championship table.
Andrew Strauss’ side are currently on equal points with South Africa, but are ranked above the Proteas when the ratings are calculated beyond the decimal point.
However, if England is held to a drawn series, then they will slip behind South Africa into the second position.
