Alok totake on Ashok in semis

Calcutta: Alok Kumar, the former Asian champi on, will take on former world champion Ashok Shandilya in the semi-fi nals of the Maharaja Prat apsinh Coronation Gymkhana National Invi tational Billiards and Snooker tournament. In the best of five games (150+) quarter final, Alok had to fight hard to get the better of India No. 6 Parikh, while Mumbai's Ashok knocked out Sourav Kothari (ONGC).

Christie role

Bangalore: Olympic gold medallist and former sprinter Linford Christie will be the event ambassa dor for the 2012 edition of TCS World 10K Bangalore race on May 27 here. The event is being sup ported by the Internation al Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) and Association of Marathons and Distance Races (AIMS), which has main
tained the Gold Label sta tus of the event.

Golf meet

Calcutta: Gurkirat Singh and Rohan Agarwal fin ished tied at 79 in Category B, while Udayjit Bhalotia came two strokes behind with a score of 81 in the same category, at the Tolly gunge Club, on the first day of the third leg of the Tata Steel East Zone Sub-Junior
Tour, on Tuesday. With a score of 84, Sunit Chowrasia and Viraj Khan na lead the way in Category A. In Category A and B for girls, Khushboo Sinha and Adrisha Sarkar claimed
top spots with scores of 84 and 105, respectively.
