Protest lock on college

Balurghat, May 14: Supporters of the Trinamul Congress Chhatra Parishad confined the teachers and staff of Gangarampur College and locked up the campus today to protest Gour Banga University’s decision to abolish the home centre system.

“There is no justification to abolish the home centre system. Around 200 students from this college will have to go to Balurghat, 45km away, to write their tests. There are not enough buses to ferry them,” said TMCP’s district president Atanu Roy. The teachers were released after five hours.
