Boy ‘killed’ by dad

Raiganj, May 13: A 15-year-old boy was allegedly murdered by his father at Anaul near Kaliachak last night.

Sources said Dodi Sarkar frequently beat up his son Abhijit, who appeared for the Madhyamik exams this year. Abhijit was the son of Dodi’s first wife who died 10 years ago. Last night, neighbours informed the police when they heard Abhijit crying and a tractor rushing out of the boy’s house. When they went to enquire, Dodi, a farmer, told the neighbours that Abhijit was away. Later, the police found a pyre at Balarampur, 3km from Anaul, and recovered a charred body. Local people claimed that the body was Abhijit’s. The police said Dodi, his second wife and their two children were absconding.
