Lens on bilateral pacts
New Delhi, May 13: The industry ministry has made a case for renegotiation of bilateral investment protection agreements (BIPA) with foreign countries, fearing a spurt in cases of overseas telecom companies, including Vodafone, seeking protection under it. “This is a serious issue and concern (that telecom companies are filing cases against India under BIPA). There is a need to renegotiate these pacts to deal with such situations,” a commerce ministry official said.

New Delhi, May 13: With uncertainty continuing over coal supplies, the power ministry has sought the intervention of the Prime Minister’s Office to resolve the issues related to Coal India’s new fuel supply agreement, sources said.
