Left hand punch

Calcutta, May 13: Food minister Jyotipriya Mullick today asked elected representatives of the Trinamul Congress to issue official certificates to CPM loyalists with their left hand.

At a party conference in North 24-Parganas, he repeated his comments that Trinamul members should not to share tea stalls with CPM workers and stay away from events attended by them.

Shooter killed

Burdwan: A 32-year-old man in Burdwan shot and injured a college student who had spurned him and killed her father when he tried to save her, following which he was beaten to death by villagers on Sunday.

Dowry cuffs

Ranaghat: A 27-year-old Nadia girl was allegedly driven out of the house on her wedding night by her husband and father-in-law after her father failed to pay the full dowry amount. The duo were arrested.

Malda: A police team trying to stop the marriage of a 16-year-old girl was allegedly beaten up by the residents of a Malda village on Saturday night.

Bankura: A truck cleaner from Tamil Nadu was beaten to death allegedly by devotees in Bankura after two of them were hit by the vehicle.
