Calcutta: Asian snooker champion Aditya Mehta defeated Alok Kumar 5-2 to set up a summit clash with local challenger Sourav Kothari in the Kolkata Open National Invitation Snooker Championship, at Hindusthan Club, here, on Tuesday.
Sourav edged past former World No. 3 Manan Chandra 5-3 in the other semi-final. Both the cueists started off on a good note, picking alternate frames. With the match levelled at two-all, Sourav took the fifth frame with a break of 60 and went on to win the sixth frame too.
But Manan bounced back with good potting and claimed the seventh frame to narrow the deficit by 3-4. In the eighth frame, Manan potted all the colour balls to tie the frame on 78-78. However, in black ball tie, Sourav finally potted the black after few safeties to move into final.
Talking about the other match, Alok dominated the proceedings from the outset, winning the first two frames by a decent margin.
But Aditya made a solid comeback in the third frame with a break of 53 points and went on to pocket next two frames.
Though Alok had a few chances in the sixth and seventh frames, Aditya maintained his composure to go through the finals.

Quarter finals: Manan Chandra bt Manish Jain 4-0; Sourav Kothari bt Himanshu Jain 4-1; Aditya Mehta bt Kamal Chawla 4-1; Alok Kumar bt Brijesh Damani 4-1.
