Guwahati, May 8: Santipur Cricket Coaching Centre will clash with Gauhati Town Club Cricket Academy in the final, having beaten hosts River Rine Cricket Coaching Centre in a nail-biting finish on the second day of their two-day 1st Jatindra Rabha and Renu Baruah all-Assam (under-16) inter-cricket coaching centre invitation cricket tournament at Latasil ground here today.
Chasing Santipur’s first innings total of 161, River Rine boys resumed at the overnight 111 for seven to be all out for 138 in 48 overs today conceding a 23-run first innings lead to the opponents. Santipur were all out for 140 in 33 overs in the second innings and River Rine CCC were set a target of 164 to chase in the second essay.
River Rine boys almost made it but missed the all-important winning run when they were all out for 163 in 36.5 overs.
Bokul Rabha topscored for River Rine CCC with an unbeaten 36 (4x6) in the first innings. Abdul Islam of Santipur hauled five wickets for 24 runs while Biplab Saikia notched up three for 39 and Mehraj Ali picked up the remaining two for 22.
In Santipur’s second innings, Abdul Islam (19, 4x2, 6x1), Sahil Jain (18, 4x2, 6x1) and Biplab Saikia (17, 4x3) were the main scorers.
Offie Rohit Sarmah of River Rine notched up a haul of eight for 40 to return with a match haul of 13 wickets. Abir Chakraborty picked up two wickets for 46 runs.
River Rine boy Prime Amarnath was the highest scorer in the match with a second innings score of 45 (4x5, 6x1). Joydeep Baruah remained unbeaten on 29 (4x2, 6x2) and Bitopan Sonowal chipped in with 17 (4x3).
Sahil Jain and Abdul Islam of Santipur CCC shared
three wickets each giving away 27 and 81 runs respectively.
The final will be played on Thursday and Friday.
