Militant arrested
Guwahati, May 7 (PTI): Police apprehended a hardcore NDFB cadre from the Garchuk area here today. The cadre, earlier injured in an encounter with security personnel, was taken to GMCH for treatment.
Blockade
Rangia (PTI): Traffic was held up for nearly four hours in lower Assam on Monday when more than 10,000 non-tribals belonging to various districts of lower Assam blocked National Highways 31 and 52 at Baihata Chariali in Kamrup district, protesting against the demand for the creation of a separate Bodoland state.
Sit-in
Jorhat: Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity and Chah Shramik Mukti Sangram Samity activists staged a sit-in at Assam Agricultural University here on Monday to protest against the retrenchment of 200 casual workers by the authorities recently.
Linkmen held
Sivasagar: A joint team of police and the army apprehended two suspected Ulfa linkmen, Abdul Rahman and Bolidur Rahman, from the Santok area in the district late on Sunday night.
