The experience of shopping for state capital residents has had a remarkable makeover in recent times.
Be it clothes, household goods or home furnishing, citizens now give a wide berth to older shops and markets and drive down to super stores or malls.
From Friday, they have another option: V2 super store, which opened its door to customers at Kameshwar Complex on Frazer Road.
Supermarkets are not a novelty though for residents. Vishal Mega Mart and 9to9 stores in the city have made residents familiar with the luxury of shopping for all their favourite things under one roof.
The rush at these stores proves that the citizens just can’t get enough of them.
“Patna is one of the booming state capitals in India. No company wants to miss the opportunity to invest here. The best part is that people of this city have now become familiar with shopping in such markets. The time when people used to go from one shop to another is gone. All the necessary items — from apparel to home furnishing to household goods — is now available under one roof,” said Manshu Tandon, chief executive officer, V2 Retail Limited.
He added: “Patna has grown into a major business hub. The sustained economic growth of the state is driving the needs and tastes of the people of this city. It is at par with any other modern city. This development has encouraged us to set up our first store here.”
He also said: “In a nutshell, I can say that such hypermarkets provide opportunities to the people to shop for most of their requirements and enjoy at the same time.”
Customers, too, find the concept of a supermarket very agreeable.
“Earlier, we used to visit different shops and stores to buy our favourites items and products. However, the launch of supermarkets and stores in Patna has made our shopping easier and enjoyable. We need not rush here and there. Apart from getting everything under one roof, it also saves our time,” said Vandana Singh, a homemaker and resident of SK Puri.
Sources said these stores attract the most customers on weekends.
“Apart from the desired products, we also get good environment here. The staff help and guide us. There are also some special offers,” said another customer, Satyandra Singh.
He had turned up at V2 to purchase clothes.
The two-storied market is spread over an area of 2,200sqft. As an opening gesture, it is offering special discounts. If you buy a designer kurti, you would get two for free. Also, if you buy a T-shirt for your child, you will get two for free.
The prices, too, are very attractive, claim the customers.
“Price is one of the factors that will attract customers. Products available here are priced the same — at times, even less — than goods outside. So, what is the point of going to different shops?” said Boring Road resident Ritesh Kumar.
Another shopper said: “If you get good quality, lots of options and reasonable prices under one roof, why would you go to another place?”
Shop till you drop, then.
