Glare on MLA

Howrah, April 28: The manager of a factory in Howrah today lodged an FIR against a Trinamul MLA accusing him of threatening to close down the unit within three days if a land dispute was not settled.

“Around 10.30am yesterday, 10-12 Trinamul workers came to the factory (in Salkia) on bikes and took me to (north Howrah MLA) Ashok Ghosh’s house,” Manoj Maity, the manager of Modern India Enterprise Ltd, said in his complaint.

Maity alleged Ghosh told him that the owner of the factory that manufactures spare parts had not done the right thing by ignoring his call to meet him to “settle a dispute” with the owner of the plot on which the unit is located.

Ghosh denied the allegations. “There is some dispute between the two (Singh and land owner Subhasish Das) and I had tried to help them reach an amicable settlement.”
