Chain snatched

Sivasagar, April 27: Two goons riding a black Pulsar bike, snatched a chain from the neck of a woman at the busy K.P. Chariali area here this afternoon. Archana Ojha Dutta, who was walking on the road, raised an alarm after the incident but the duo sped away.

Shop thefts

Sivasagar: Thieves broke into three cloth shops of the municipal market at Temple Road here on Thursday night and escaped with materials worth several thousand rupees.

Attack

Sivasagar: One Jonaki Mirdha, 35, of Modinagar tea estate under Geleky police station was injured on Friday, when a leopard attacked her when Jonaki and other labourers were working.

Damage

Jorhat: Three houses were damaged by a herd of elephants in the Rongbon area of Goglaghat forest range late on Thursday night.

Man injured

Dhubri: Paher Ali, 40, an auto driver, sustained serious injuries when a Bijni-bound bus hit his auto on NH 31, at Simlaguri of Barpeta district on Friday.

Eviction

Dhubri: In a bid to stop the illegal timber business, forest officials of Barpeta Road Range office raided Howly, Kaljhar and Chalta area and evicted nine illegal saw mills and seized machinery on Thursday night.
