10 hurt in Trinamul clash

Cooch Behar, April 22: At least 10 persons were injured when two factions of the Trinamul Congress clashed near Tufanganj this evening.

The violence started when a Trinamul meeting was attacked by 20-30 people armed with sticks and stones at Dhalpal around 6.45pm. The meeting was being organised by the president of Trinamul Dhalpal anchal committee, Siddhartha Mondal. His supporters took on the attackers allegedly loyal to the Trinamul panchayat pradhan of Dhalpal, Salma Bibi, and 10 persons were hurt in the clash. Police said six persons were admitted to the district hospital here and four to the Tufanganj subdivisional hospital.


Body found

Balurghat: The body of a 36-year-old woman was found in the Atreyi at Madanganj on Sunday. Police said Tapa Mondal had been missing since Saturday evening and she might have been murdered.
