Posterior triumph

Imphal, April 18: Posterior Hockey Academy Manipur drubbed YCLYL Lairikyengbam Leikai by 6-1 goals in the 1st State-Level U-18 Hockey Tournament at Khuman Lampak hockey stadium today.

In a one-sided match, YCLYL team proved to be an easy prey for the much experienced Posterior team with Ksh. Wangamba Singh scoring the lead for Posterior in the second minute, converting a penalty corner.

Making further inroads, Posterior blasted their way to the second goal with L. Romeshchandra Singh scoring from a penalty corner conversion in the 19th minute to lead by two goals.

However just before the first half, W. Bipin Singh of YCLYL connected well from a penalty corner in the 25th minute to trail 1-2.

Posterior Hockey almost had a free run in the second half with Ksh. Wangamba Singh striking home two more goals in the 42nd and 48th minute and later Amarjit Goswami scored two goals in the 64th and 66th minute for the victory today.

In another match, Cachar Road Athletic Union held South Eastern Youth Organisation by 1-1 goals.

Ksh. Nelson Singh got the opening goal for South Eastern in the 16th minute while N. Maheshwor Singh drew parity for Cachar Road in the 19th minute to split a point each.
