CM push for success show

Calcutta, April 18: Mamata Banerjee today said her government’s “success” was not being publicised properly because of the “lackadaisical attitude” of some departments and instructed all offices to update their achievements on BanglarMukh, the state’s official website.

The chief minister was speaking at a review meeting with all her ministers and department secretaries at Town Hall today.

Officials present at the meeting said Mamata was satisfied with the performance of all her departments. “But at the same time, she pointed out that the good work was not being publicised. Some people are criticising the new government unnecessarily and they are ignoring the success achieved,” an official said.

“The chief minister instructed that all departments should update their achievements regularly on the state government’s official website — BanglarMukh. This apart, they should also put up hoardings wherever a government project is undertaken,” the official added.

Another minister said at least 15-16 departments were not updating their performance on the website.

The chief minister’s dissatisfaction produced immediate result.

Debashis Sen, the urban development secretary and managing director of Hidco, tweeted that a meeting would be held on updating the website tomorrow.

Mamata described the meeting as a routine one. “This is a routine meeting to review our performance. The on-going projects were discussed. We tried to identify the problem areas, if any.”
