Rupam appeals to HC

Patna: Rupam Pathak, convicted of killing Purnea BJP legislator Rajkishore Keshari, on Monday filed an appeal in Patna High Court challenging the verdict of a lower court that awarded her life imprisonment. upam filed a bail petition along with her appeal.

Mining FIR

Gaya: Eight FIRs were lodged with Gurua police station on Sunday in connection with illegal mining of stones on Kalauna hills. Mines inspector Kapoori Tanti lodged the FIRs against Basant Manjhi, Guddu Khan and eight others. Two compressor machines used to carry out blasts were seized.

Notification

Patna: The general administration department on Monday issued notifications, appointing principal judges in family courts in Motihari, Hajipur, Muzaffarpur, Patna, Chhapra, Biharsharif, Darbhanga, Gaya, Ara and Sitamarhi districts.

Finance meet

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi will call on Union finance minister Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday to discuss issues related to goods and service taxes.

Patna: The state collected revenue of Rs 1269.40 crore through taxes in the 2011-12 financial year, an increase of 28.59 per cent from the last fiscal.
