Pamei sails into semi-final

Imphal, April 11: T. Pamei, representing Manipur Secretariat, moved into the semi-final, beating Ch. Birendra of IFCD department by 2-0 sets in the men’s open of the 21st Manipur Civil Services Tennis Championship at Officers’ Club at Lamphelpat.

In the quarter-final, Pamei beat Birendra Singh.

The other quarter-final matches saw H. Iboyaima of YAS beat Ch. Upen of PHED, M. Ranjan of Rural Development beat compatriot W. Iboyaima while N. Tomba of Agriculture Department beat Leisemba of IFCD en route to the semi-final.

The men’s doubles quarter-final witnessed N. Dilip and N. Kangjamba beating M. Ranjan and W. Iboyaima.

In the other matches, T. Pamei and K. Ramkumar defeated Sasangkar and N. Tomba.

Pritam Singh H. Ibotombi beat H. Iboyaima and Ch. Biren made their way into semi-final.

The Revenue Department pair of N. Kangjamba and Ksh. Lemba beat W. Iboyaima and N. Ranjan of Rural Development 2-1 to move to the semi-final of the men’s team event. T. Pamei and Indrajit Singh of Secretariat Department had an easy victory over Ch. Biren and Leishemba of IFCD to enter the final in the team event. Secretariat Department will meet PHED in the final.
