Guwahati, April 11: City Cricket Club lifted the Bhupen Chandra Mahanta Guwahati Sports Association first division cricket tournament trophy, defeating Food Corporation of India (FCI) Sports Club by 34 runs in the final at Nehru Stadium here today.
In a low-scoring summit clash, FCI won the toss and put in City to bat first.
City were all out for 83 in 31.1 overs.
Chasing the paltry target, the FCI men were skittled out for 49 in 22.4 overs.
Suhel Rahman topscored for City with 24 runs, hitting three boundaries, and Raj Baruah and Debashish Saikia chipped in with 20 (4x3) and 12 (4x1) respectively.
Bikash Chetri and Rishav Das of FCI took three wickets each, giving away 12 and 23 respectively.
Kon Urang picked up two for 10.
For FCI, Pallab Das (29, 4x3) was the only notable scorer for the side.
Raj Baruah of City scalped three wickets for four runs to be named Man of the Match and Romario Sharma, who was eventually named Man of the Tournament, claimed two for 11.
Rahul Hazarika and Bikash Chetri of FCI were named the Best Batsman and Bowler respectively.
Nominated: The All-Manipur Football Association has nominated S. Premkanta Singh as goalkeeping coach for Manipur team for the 66th National Football Championship for Santosh Trophy to be held in Odisha from May 11-27.
