Six persons were injured, the driver and one passenger seriously, when a van they were travelling in turned turtle in Mango, Jamshedpur, on Tuesday morning around 10.
The accident occurred at Chepapool under Azadnagar police station area, when the van’s driver tried to avoid a biker who came from the opposite direction. The biker fled as soon as the van overturned.
The van was carrying 13 passengers. The driver and five others who were injured are all adult males. Two children, an equal number of women and four men were unhurt.
The six lay screaming for help for 20 minutes after which a police team arrived from Azadnagar to send the injured to the emergency ward of Mahatma Gandhi Memorial Medical College and Hospital, 6km away.
Sub-inspector Deepak Kumar of Azadnagar police station said the van was coming from Chandil and would have terminated at Sakchi.
