CAPTAIN’S NOTE
The fifth season of the IPL and my second season with the Kolkata Knight Riders is here. Over these five years it has been proved that Calcutta has the most electric atmosphere at the magical Eden Gardens, better than any other arena in the IPL. The crowds, the roar and our team song all make a heady mix that really gets my adrenaline going. And I can tell you it’s the same for all the guys who wear purple and represent this city.
Last year we did well to make it to the last four and this year we would like to build on that to go further. We have a wonderful team, one that I am very, very proud of. I have always said that there are no great captains but only great teams and I have a super one. We have big hitters, depth in our batting, variety in our bowling and a couple of strike bowlers. If we play to potential, nobody is going to stop us.
This is where the fans of KKR come into the picture. If you turn up at the stadium, cheer for us and back us, it will make a world of difference to us. It has been seen that teams that play well at home have a big leg-up in this tournament. Be there for us and we will feel extra special.
We have a new logo, and a new shade of purple but the passion is the same and our motto remains the same: Korbo, lorbo, jeetbo!
