Alvito’s ‘training’

In a first of its kind, Kingfisher East Bengal’s Alvito D’Cunha will undergo a level 2 Uefa coaching course in England from May 21-25. He will be the first footballer from the present generation to pursue a course from a European nation.

Alvita said that he wants to contribute to the game as a coach after retirement. So this was the perfect opportunity for him to make a start. “I have two-three years of football left in me… After retiring, I wanted to remain involved with the game and want to coach sides. So, this course will help me in my endeavour,” he said.

Chess meet

Rahul Deb Das won the Howrah District Chess Championship with 6.5 points while Satyajit Sarkar came second with six points.

BHA league

Punjab Sports Club defeated SAI Training Centre 2-0 in a super division BHA league match, on Monday. Sunil and Harmeet Singh scored a goal each. Meanwhile, in a first division group B match, Behala SA beat Chotanagpur Recreational Club 2-0.

Hockey meet

Howrah Siksha Sadan thrashed Elliot Day School 4-0 in an under-16 All-Bengal eight-a-side hockey tournament at Yuba Sangha Maidan.
