Deshmukh

Mumbai, March 29: Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh will be quizzed over allegations that he prevented police action against a Congress MLA who allegedly tortured farmers to recover loans given by the legislator’s family.

A Mumbai court today asked the police to probe the allegations that go back to 2006 when Deshmukh was Maharashtra chief minister.

MLA Dilip Kumar Sananda and his father Gokulchand are accused of torturing farmers in drought-hit Vidarbha, where many cultivators had committed suicide after crop failures.
