Raped at home

Calcutta, March 29: A 32-year-old woman was allegedly raped by five men in her own house at Kakdwip today.

The husband had gone to a nearby field when the five entered the house. When he returned, he found the men trying to drag her out of the room. He raised the alarm, but they hit him on the head with a shovel and fled.

Molest claim

Tamluk: Six youths were arrested from the Digha beach on Thursday on charges of molesting a woman.

Fatal bath

Haldia: Two school-going sisters drowned in a pond in Haldia while bathing on Thursday. Police said Priya Das had slipped in deep waters and when Priti tried to save her, she also drowned.

Students held

Bolpur: Two Class VIII students were arrested and produced before the juvenile justice board in Birbhum’s Suri on Thursday on charges of raping a mentally challenged girl. The boys cornered the girl in a field on Tuesday when she was cutting grass and allegedly raped her.
