Calcutta, March 23: Hamidul Rahman today joined the Trinamul Congress, in a blow to ally Congress that had claimed till two days ago that the lone Independent MLA from Chopra in North Dinajpur would back its Rajya Sabha candidate Abdul Mannan.
Although Mannan had withdrawn from the fray yesterday following instructions from the high command, state party leaders felt “betrayed” by the development.
“At last, my dream has come true. I joined Trinamul this evening in the presence of the chief minister and a host of Trinamul leaders and ministers,” Hamidul said.
