Anjan Dutt’s Dutta Vs Dutta gets serious

The mood is fiery at the Amherst Street Lahabari on Thursday morning where Anjan Dutt is shooting Dutta Vs Dutta.Rono (Ronodeep Bose) storms into his father Biren Dutta’s (Anjan Dutt) chamber where he is getting up close and very personal with his sister-in-law Runu (Roopa Ganguly). This triggers a showdown between Dutta senior and junior. “Although I’m supposed to play him in the film, Anjan uncle has given me a lot of liberty to enact the character the way I’m comfortable. I’ve been following the way Anjan uncle moves and talks, especially when he is really cheesed off!” smiled the 21-year-old who happens to be Soumitra Chatterjee’s grandson and has a passion for “playing the guitar”.

Runu mashi to Rono in the film, Roopa shares a laugh with Ronodeep in between shots on her first day at the shoot. Roopa, who plays Biren’s mistress Runu, describes her role as “different in terms of my own lifestyle and beliefs”. Runu, she adds, “is involved with Biren, which is obviously not acceptable to the family but she doesn’t care about social norms”. Roopa, whose association with Dutt the co-actor dates back to Yugant, fondly remembers the time “he directed me in telefilms and films like Bow Barracks Forever and Chowrasta: Crossroads of Love. I always feel very comfortable with him and am at home on his sets.”
