Shock to minister

Patna, March 12: The BJP MLA, Sanjay Sarogi, today challenged the reply of health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey on defunct machines at Darbhanga Medical College and Hospital (DMCH), embarrassing his party colleague in the Assembly.

When Choubey claimed that the mechanical ventilator at the medical college was among the equipment functional there, Sarogi produced a letter of a head of the department (HoD) of DMCH, declaring that it was defunct.

Speaker Uday Narain Choudhary told the minister to get the matter investigated immediately. “Either the letter of the HoD is false or the reply given to you by your officials is false,” the Speaker said.

A visibly shaken minister said he would get the matter investigated immediately.

Sarogi had alleged large- scale irregularities in purchase of medical equipment at DMCH.
