Shehla MLA test

Bhopal, March. 9: The CBI will ask BJP MLA Dhruv Narain Singh to undergo narco test in connection with the murder of the RTI activist Shehla Masood.

The legislator from Bhopal is under the scanner since the arrest of Zahida Parvez, an interior designer, and a few others. Narain has been questioned thrice by the CBI but so far he has denied any involvement.

Jail shift

Madurai (PTI): Madras High Court has advised prison authorities to adopt a “soft approach” in dealing with prisoners’ appeals to retain them in a particular prison on grounds such as easy accessibility for their parents or spouses to pay visits. The court has asked jail authorities to reconsider a similar plea by a convict, which was rejected earlier.

Joy Mukherjee

Mumbai (PTI): Joy Mukherjee passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Friday morning. The 73-year-old actor had been ailing and was critical for the past three days, his spokesperson said.

Duo detained

Mumbai (PTI): An Indian-origin American and his wife have been detained at Mumbai airport for allegedly trying to smuggle in diamond and gold-studded watches and jewellery worth Rs 2 crore. D. Sontakke claimed to be a billionaire and owner of an IT firm in the US. The couple are likely to be arrested.

Blast kills 2

Alwar (PTI): Two children have died and another injured in a blast that took place while they tried to extract metal from a bomb-shell in a village in Rajasthan. The children were picking up scrap from a nearby CRPF shooting range. The deceased were identified as Arbaz, 7, and Mosam, 12. The condition of the injured Juber was stable, police said.

Hassan (PTI): Karnataka chief minister D.V. Sadananda Gowda’s wife Datty has suffered minor injuries in an accident. Her driver had tried to avoid a bull. She was treated at a private hospital and discharged later, police said.
