Baby death charge

Balurghat, Feb. 26: Parents of a dead newborn have brought charges of negligence against an on-duty doctor at the Balurghat hospital here today.

Suman Das said in his complaint to the hospital superintendent that his child died after he was forced to take his wife who was admitted to the hospital to a private clinic for an ultrasonography on the advice of Dr Suresh Mondal. Rintu delivered the child soon after she reached the clinic. When the couple came back to the hospital with the baby, the doctor declared the newborn dead.


Body found

Malda: The body of a 40-year-old, suspected to be part of a gang that robbed Rs 3 lakh from a trader here last week, was found in Harishchandrapur on Sunday. Police suspect Azad Sheikh was killed during a fight. No one has been arrested.


Python

Alipurduar: A 12-feet-long python was recovered from Chepani village, 20km from here, on Sunday. Foresters of Buxa Tiger Reserve (east) said the snake was later released in Raidak forest.
