Guwahati, Feb. 26: Tezpur tallied three points by virtue of a first innings lead in their drawn two-day Nuruddin Ahmed Trophy Senior inter-district plate group super league match against Jorhat at Nehru Stadium here today.
Put to bat on Saturday, Tezpur declared their first innings at 308 for nine in 81 overs and reduced Jorhat to 48 for two in 18 overs at close of the first day. Jorhat were all out for 194 in 80 overs conceding a 114-run first innings lead to Tezpur.
In the second innings, opener Diptesh Saha anchored Tezpur with a century to 167 for one in 34 overs at the end of the match.
Saha remained unbeaten on 114 (12x4, 2x6) facing only 99 balls along with Tushar T. Trisnatya on 52 (5x4) at the other end.
In the first innings, Roshan Basfore topscored for Tezpur with 73 (6x4) while tailender Nasir Ansari remained not out on 52 (3x4, 2x6) Sanjay Kant also scored a useful 50 (3z4) and Subal Barman chipped in with 32 (3x4).
Leg spinner Prabal Borkotoky of Jorhat returned with the figures of five for 78.
In Jorhat’s first innings, opener Md Arif topscored with 67 (6x4) and Abhishek Krishna contributed 37 (6x4).
Juned Akhtar Ansari of Tezpur accounted for the scalp of four for 42 and Roshan Basfore claimed three for 49. Shyam Babu Sahani picked up two for 20.
Body-building
The Assam Body Builders and Fitness Association is organising the 23rd edition of the Mr Saraighat RG Baruah All India Classic Body-building championship at the ITA Centre, Machkhowa, on March 25.
The meet, held under the aegis of Indian Body Builders Federation, will be held in a group and 20 national and international body-builders from across the country are likely to take part.
