Kohima, Feb. 25: The Youth Expo, a collective effort of the government of Nagaland and NGOs working for the development of youths in the Northeast, commenced today with the Angami Sekrenyi Fest.
Over 100 entrepreneurs showcased their work and projects at the expo. Many of them are new entrants.
Stalls displaying handicrafts, confectionery, photo and art galleries, music showrooms, cafés and spas, attracted swarms of visitors.
Governor Nikhil Kumar and chief minister Neiphiu Rio also visited the stalls.
Rio lauded the efforts of the youths and said he was proud to see the fruits of their labour.
Theja Meru, co-ordinator for the expo, expressed gratitude to the organisers and said the expo would celebrate the spirit of the youth.
He said Naga youth entrepreneurs have taken a quantum leap to contribute to the economy of the state.
“With these efforts, our economy will strengthen,” he said. The festival will conclude tomorrow.
The expo will gradually be held in all the districts of the state, coinciding with the tribal festivals of Nagaland.
