How did you get selected?

I was on Facebook and this ad kept popping up for a contest by Nissan New Star of India. I’m a big, big fan of Ranbir Kapoor, so the moment I read it, I jumped. I recorded my dance video, uploaded it, begged all my friends to vote for me and soon was among the top 100. And then they called me to say I was one of the top 20!

What was the experience like?

It was a dream. I can’t believe I actually got the chance to meet him.

What did you have to do?

We had to act that we were impressed by the Nissan car and sort of strike a thumka pose with Ranbir Kapoor. I also made many friends. In fact, my Facebook status says that I miss hearing ‘roll sound, lights, camera, action’.

What was Ranbir like?

I was shivering at the thought of meeting him.... He’s amazingly humble and polite. You have to watch him shooting to realise how good he is. When he starts shooting, it’s like a bulb goes on.

What are your friends and family saying?

They’re very happy I finally met him. I came all the way from Durgapur to see him when he was supposed to promote Rockstar. But he didn’t come and I was heartbroken. Little did I know I’d meet him within a month!

When I first saw him coming to Ramoji Film City (Hyderabad), I was so excited I thought I was going to faint. I got windchimes for him as a gift and he said he loved it. I took a picture with him and people introduced me as Ranbir’s biggest fan. That was my proudest moment.

Yes, of course!

How did you get selected?

I saw an advertisement on Facebook. I had to upload a video of my dance and if that got me enough votes, I’d get a chance to star in a “movie” with Ranbir Kapoor. They had provided the music, and I had to pick one song out of three. I was selected among the top 20.

What was the experience like?

It was amazing. We had a 600-member crew and being backstage gave me an insider’s view of all the action. Like when Ranbir flew on the screen I would have thought he really jumped, but we were able to see how it all happened (he was tied to harnesses and ropes that ‘flew’ him there).

What did you have to do?

Not much. Say a couple of lines and then say ‘oh wow’ when the Nissan car came and then dance with him!

What is Ranbir like?

He’s so humble and polite. He doesn’t throw any starry attitude but is yet so star-like. When he walks by, you can feel that a star is walking past. But otherwise, he chatted with all 20 of us, asked us our names and made us feel comfortable.

What are your friends and family saying?

They’re pulling my leg and they keep saying that they’ll have to ask for my autograph next!

Are you a Ranbir fan?

Yes, I really liked him in Rockstar and wanted to grow my hair like him in the song Nadaan parindey. Even Ranbir told me to go ahead with it. But my dad played spoilsport!

Did you get autographs/ pictures?

Yes, I got both (smiles).
