Glam Hunt

Fighting a flutter in the tummy, the 10 finalists of Streax Unish Kuri Glam Hunt 2012 got ready to walk down the poolside at Princeton Club on Wednesday. After all, it was the swimsuit round of the pageant with only a few days to go before the February 22 finale!

“This is the first time I was wearing a bikini in front of such a large audience. We were also worried that the guys were around and so we were cautious. However, our bonding helped overcome that fear,” said Oindrila Sarkar, 21, who went from panic to perfect poise as she faced the judges.

ack was the chosen colour. “We wanted to give it an international look. We have seen a lot of colourful swimwear in the past, this time we used black to break the trend. The bikinis were designed to have the look of a stylish single piece,” explained swimwear designer Saadhika Jhunjhunwalla.

And stylish they did look, as the girls and boys took the poolside ramp with panache. For mentor and model Shonal Rawat, it was difficult to believe this was the same batch that was “clueless” about modelling when the contest kicked off on February 1. “This is the toughest batch I have come across. None of them has done modelling before. So I showed them how to walk, hold that expression and present their personality,” said the pro, adding with a smile, “By the finale, they will become some of the best models in the city!”

The three judges TV actress Arpita Mukherjee, actor Joy Mukherjee and designer Paromita Banerjee were impressed by what they saw. “Being able to choose a career so early in life and being able to walk in swimsuits requires a lot of confidence,” said Paromita.
