Salman Khurshid

New Delhi, Feb. 14 (PTI): The Election Commission is unlikely to act further against Salman Khurshid after he expressed his regret yesterday for defying the poll watchdog.
The complaint against the Union law minister, which the poll panel sent to the President, is with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for appropriate action.
Khurshid wrote to the commission last night, saying he bows to the wisdom of the EC and regretted his remarks on a minority sub-quota, which the poll panel said violated the poll code.
Khurshid had retorted to the poll panels censure by saying he would continue to speak on the sub-quota for minorities even if the Election Commission hangs me.
Taking cognisance of his regret letter, the Election Commission said the matter should be put to an end now that Khurshid had promised not to create such a situation in the future, sources said.
Khurshid, who was asked about the controversy in Farrukhabad, Uttar Pradesh, said: This chapter is closed now.
