Balaram Chowdhury, a former secretary of Mohun Bagan club, and his son Joydeep were questioned at the state CID headquarters for around six hours on Monday in connection with the murder of a software engineer last year.
Junior Mirdha, 27, an employee in a Sector V firm, was found dead on Belgharia Expressway near RCR bridge on July 12 night. His motorcycle was lying nearby.
“Mirdha had called Joydeep’s wife Priyanka a few hours before his body was found. The call was the last he made from his cellphone,” said a CID officer.
According to CID sources, footage recorded by a security camera installed on a lamp post in Sector V showed a female pillion rider on Junior’s motorcycle the night he was killed. “The footage also showed him alone on his bike later. A car could be spotted trailing the bike,” said a source.
CID officers had earlier questioned Balaram, Joydeep and Priyanka at their Salt Lake home. “They were questioned in connection with Junior’s murder and may be questioned again,” said deputy inspector general, CID (operations), K. Jayaraman.
