Portal for varsity scholars

Siliguri, Feb. 10: A digital repository was inaugurated at North Bengal University today to allow e-submission of PhD thesis at the web portal of the University Grants Commission.

To facilitate online submission, the UGC had introduced Shodhganga, an Indian repository for dissertations, in January 2010. Now students of NBU will be able to submit their work directly to the portal. Earlier scholars used to submit PhD thesis to the varsity registrar. Today the facility was inaugurated by Soumitra Sarkar, the librarian of Calcutta University. The digital repository at the NBU library can be accessed through over 700 computers in the varsity campus network, officials said. The repository will also be used to digitise old books in the library.
