Manipur cops in last four

Imphal, Feb. 10: Manipur Police Sports Club (A) galloped into the semi-finals, defeating New Star Polo Club by 9-2 goals in the 27th N. Hazari Memorial Polo Tournament at Imphal polo ground today.

S. Bimol Singh, Th. Ranjit Singh, S. Somorjit Singh and M. Jawan Singh scored for Manipur Police.

Ksh. Nanao Singh and Kh. Surgyan Singh scored for New Star.

In another quarter-final, Tekcham Polo Club beat Imphal Riding Club by 4-3 goals to move into the semi-finals. Kh. Tombi Singh, S. Sona Singh, S. Dhaneshor Singh and S. Ranjit Singh scored for Tekcham.

Prakash Bhandari was the only scorer for Imphal Riding. With the stage set for the semi-finals, Khurai Polo Club will take on Singjamei Polo Club while Manipur Police Sports Club will meet Tekcham Polo Club tomorrow.

Friendly soccer

The All-Manipur Football Association has selected 20 footballers for the goodwill match against FC Kickers, Japan, on February 19 at Khuman Lampak main stadium.
