Guwahati, Feb. 9: City Cricket Club handed a 54-run defeat to Bud Cricket Club in a match of the Guwahati Sports Association’s first division cricket tournament at Nehru Stadium here today.

Electing to bat, City Cricket Club posted a comfortable total of 180 for nine in the stipulated 35 overs.

Bud Cricket Club batsmen did the harakiri to be all out for 126 in 29.3 overs.

Romario M. Sharma (77, 9x4, 1x6) was the top scorer for City while Saifuddin Ahmed and Nip Kalita contributed useful knocks of 39 (6x4) and 23 (4x4) respectively.

Pankaj Hazarika also chipped in with a knock of 18 (1x6).

Debabrata Roy, Bhaskar Kalita and Mukut Kalita of Bud shared two wickets each giving away 17, 39 and 53 runs respectively.

For Bud, Mukut Kalita topscored with a breezy 45, hitting three fours and a six.

Akash Sharma (20, 3x4) and Pallav Das (12, 1x4) were the only other notable scorers for the side.

Ashok Talukdar of City delivered a devastating spell to haul five for 21 in his 5.3 overs.

Besides, Pankaj Hazarika notched up three for 19 and Bhaskar Borah picked up the remaining two for 20.

Tomorrow, Gauhati Town Club will play River Rine Club.
