Netball meet
Guwahati: Over 650 participants from 22 states will vie for top honours at the 17th national sub-junior (under-16) netball championship that will be held at Sarusajai sports complex here from Thursday. The inaugural ceremony of the four-day meet will commence from 10am. The meet is being organised by the Assam Netball Association in association with the Netball Federation of India.
Selection
Guwahati: Two Assam footballers — Nabin Rabha of Guwahati and Geremsha Basumatary of Kokrajhar — have been selected for the national under-16 boys’ selection camp. The camp will be held at Goa from March 15.
School chess
Guwahati: Guwahati Chess Academy is organising the 5th All Assam School Chess meet at Shilpgram here from February 11 to 14. The tournament, organised jointly with the Lions Club of Guwahati, Kamrup and Guwahati Chess Association, will be open for students of upto Class XII and will be played in three separate groups — pawn (upto Class V), knight (upto Class VIII) and queen (upto Class XII).
Top five players from each group will be awarded cash prizes and trophies while there will be two consolation prizes for girls in each group.
