Bodo festival inaugurated

Kokrajhar, Feb. 4: The 4th Bodo National Festival began from today at Kajalgaon Alaikungri garden in Chirang district.

Participants from Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and states like Tripura, West Bengal, Meghalaya, Nagaland and Assam have arrived for the festival.

BTC Speaker Paniram Brahma inaugurated the trade fair-cum-food festival today.

The five-day festival will see the largest participation of greater Bodo ethnic groups living in different parts of the world.

The programmes will include get-togethers, discussions, cultural and food festivals of ethnic groups like Bodo, Borok, Kachari, Mech, Meches, Dimasa, Sonowal, Barman Kachari, Deuri, Saraniya, Tiwa, Thengal, Hajong and Garo.

Cultural troupes will perform and showcase traditional dances as well.

An open discussion on the current status of the groups in different parts of the world will also be held.
