Carcass found
Jorhat, Jan. 25: The carcass of a female Royal Bengal tiger was found at Tamuly Pathar, on the fringes of Agaratoli range of the Kaziranga National Park today. Forest officials said the tiger may have died a couple of days ago as maggots were feeding on its carcass. The cause of death will be known after post mortem.
Train timings
Guwahati: Trains that were cancelled from January 20 will run again from Friday 5.30am. The trains will run according to normal timetable from 5.30am. on Friday. Altogether eight trains were cancelled and two trains were rescheduled during this period following operational constraints.
Voters’ Day
Jorhat: National Voters’ Day was observed here at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Jorhat deputy commissioner R.C. Jain at his office chamber. A pledge to vote was administered by the DC to all those present there.
Jail visit
Jorhat: Gaurav Gogoi, son of chief minister Tarun Gogoi, who is on three-day visit to the district, on Wednesday visited the outlet outside the Central Jail Jorhat, where products made by prison inmates are sold and then went to Majuli. The CM’s son is here to take stock of the rural scene.
Kohima bandh
Kohima (PTI): All trade and commercial activities in Nagaland came to a halt since this morning as NSCN (I-M) called a 36-hour trade bandh in Naga-inhabited areas of the region, officials said. However, essential services like educational institutions and traffic were exempted from the purview of the bandh.
