Jadavpur University’s anti-ragging committee on Wednesday held a student member guilty of ragging a first-year student.
The committee declared Prasun Chakrabarty, who is also chairman of the university’s Faculty of Engineering and Technology Students’ Union, guilty of ragging first-year pharmacy student Ritesh Kumar after going through the report by an inquiry committee formed last October.
“Prasun Chakrabarty has been found guilty of mild ragging. The anti-ragging committee has recommended suitable punishment,” JU registrar Pradip Ghosh told Metro.
The punishments recommended are Chakrabarty’s expulsion from the main hostel and the anti-ragging committee.
