Punter is still on Cowan’s wall of fame

Ed Cowan still has a poster of childhood hero Ricky Ponting on the wall of his bedroom at his family home in Sydney. Cowan, on Thursday, visited his Sydney house, where he has not lived in the last 11 years and was happy to find that poster there. “I loved Ricky Ponting. I walked into my mum and dad's house today, which is still in Sydney, and went up to my old room and there’s still a poster of Ricky Ponting on the wall,” Cowan told The Age.

Wasim Akram labelled India’s consecutive losses abroad as sub-continental shame. “India’s abject surrender is a subcontinental shame,” Akram was quoted as saying by The Advertiser. Akram said being the homeland lions would not help Indian cricket in any way.

Shane Watson is likely to play the semi-final of the Twenty20 Big Bash League on Sunday, but the coach of his franchise, the Sydney Sixers, said he will probably only bat, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald. Watson has not played since November because of a hamstring strain and a calf problem.
