EYEBALL GRABBERS

BADE ACHCHE LAGTE HAIN

Ekta Kapoor came up with a winner on Sony, weaving a very watchable story around love after marriage between two 40-year-olds. Ram Kapoor and Sakshi Tanwar have become the first couple of Hindi telly and Bade Achche Lagte Hain a TRP topper.

KAUN BANEGA CROREPATI

Amitabh Bachchan scripted a blockbuster KBC season, capping the Sony game show’s sky-high TRPs with its first ever Rs 5 crore winner — Sushil Kumar from Motihari in Bihar (in picture left with Bachchan).

TERRA NOVA

This American sci-fi drama — about a family that travels 85 million years into the past — was a sure-shot winner. Can’t wait for Season 2!

CALIFORNICATION

Sex, lies and videotape — Californication on Zee Cafe ticks all three boxes. And how! David Duchovny as wasted and wanton author Hank Moody makes us loathe and love him. Statutory warning (or must-watch alert): Can be easily passed off as soft porn.

MASTERCHEF AUSTRALIA

If the first and second seasons were popular, Season 3 was a winner. The STAR World cooking competition packed in drama and edge-of-the-seat moments. And lots of lip-smacking food!

STAR DEBUTS

ARJUN RAMPAL
LUV2HATEU

The model-turned-actor was brave to take on a show in which celebrities came up, close and personal with their biggest haters. While Arjun as the host of Luv2HateU on STAR World is just about passable, we loved the fact that he put himself in the hot seat, taking on his detractor chin up. Attaboy!

HRITHIK ROSHAN
JUST DANCE

After years of dilly-dallying, Hrithik Roshan took the small-screen plunge with Just Dance on STAR Plus. He cried with the contestants when they failed and laughed with them when they soared. And he moved like a dream. Double thumbs-up!

PREITY ZINTA
Up Close & Personal with PZ

She was a blah host for the Guinness World Records on Colors last year, but Preity Zinta’s turn as bubbly chat show host on Up Close & Personal with PZ was a lot of fun. Spontaneous and friendly, Preity had a blast with her star guests, asking them some sticky ones with her trademark dimpled smile and even shaking a leg with them. Ting!

SANJAY DUTT
BIGG BOSS

As the host of Bigg Boss 5, the deadly Dutt has been a disaster. Bored and groping for words, Sanju Baba’s paunchy presence is an eyesore, his tendency to go “Bigg Boss 5-5-5-5-5-5” headache-inducing. He is only remotely watchable when Salman Khan m akes a rare appearance as co-host.
