Ankurjyoti take lead

Guwahati, Dec. 26: Ankurjyoti Cricket Coaching Centre bagged four points in the drawn two-day match against Noonmati Cricket Coaching Centre in the 1st Jatindra Rabha and Renu Baruah All Assam (under-16) inter cricket coaching invitation cricket tournament at Latasil playground here today.

Ankurjyoti, who were 35 for five in their first innings at stumps yesterday, fought their way back to post 178 in 63.3 overs, taking a slender lead of eight runs. Overnight batsman Pranab Jyoti Medhi fashioned the revival for his team with a dogged 68 off 158 balls while Sunny Mandal chipped in with 46 off 95 balls. For Noonmati, pacer Tirthankar Das bagged five wickets while Roshan Jha took three.

Noonmati CCC had made 170 in their first innings. In the second innings, Noonmati were restricted to 135 for eight in 24 overs with Subhankar Chakrabarty striking 58 in 44 balls. For Ankurjyoti, Sajidur Rahman scalped six for 59.

In their second innings, Ankurjyoti were 51 for 1 when the teams settled for a draw. Amit Yadav was unbeaten on 34.

Ankurjyoti, by virtue of their first innings lead, bagged three points and one point from the draw, while Noonmati CCC had to be content with a single point.

The next match will be played on January 5.
