Mada staff welcome merger

Pradhikar Karmachari Sangharsh Samiti, the employees’ union of Mineral Area Development Authority (Mada), has welcomed the state government’s decision to merge the civic body with Dhanbad Municipal Corporation.

The samiti, which held a meeting at its district office on Sunday under the chairmanship of president Ram Pravesh Kumar, however, voiced concerns about a number of issues, including pending salaries of some employees.

Speaking to The Telegraph after the meeting, spokesperson for the union Shyam Narayan Dubey said the government had to sort out a number of issues before the merger.

“The Mada employees have been demanding salaries for more than seven months now. Who will pay the dues of more than 1,800 employees of the association?” asked Dubey. The other demands of the samiti are fixing pay of employees under different categories and payment of pension as per a Jharkhand High Court directive.
